Alumnae House
Located on the east side of Agnes Scott College’s beautiful campus, just a short walk from downtown Decatur, the Anna I. Young Alumnae House offers overnight guest rooms and event spaces for rental to alumnae, friends and the greater community.
The house was named for Anna I. Young, an alumna and professor of mathematics at the college from 1895 to 1920.
Built-in 1921, the Anna I. Young Alumnae House was the first alumnae house in the Southeast and the second in the United States.
In 2009, major renovations to the house were completed, modernizing the guest rooms and adding private baths to each room, making the building ADA accessible and returning the house’s Tea Room once again into an event space. The building is now a beautiful and useful event venue, with seating for groups of up to 40 or receptions of up to 75 in the Tea Room, as well as five overnight guest rooms, each with a private bathroom, for alumnae and friends of the college.
Supporting the college’s sustainability commitment, the building was the first project on campus to be designed for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, the national rating system for “green buildings” and among the first LEED-certified buildings in the city of Decatur.
